Sonny has opened up to The Sun about how his impressive change came about, after a huge lifestyle overhaul which has seen him lose five per cent of his body fat since January.

He’s also found love again, after his five year relationship with former fiancée Lauren Faith came to an end.

“I feel the best I’ve ever felt,” Sonny said, adding: “And that does give you an air of confidence when you’re going out and talking to people.

“I am in a relationship and I didn’t expect to be in it, in the nicest way possible. We’ve been seeing each other since January and the nice thing about it is we’ve kept it so low key.”

Capital FM presenter Sonny, who became an instant fan favourite on Dancing On Ice and went on to win the 2021 series, has been working hard on both his physical and mental health.

The star admitted he wanted to look the best he ever has ahead of his 30th birthday in June, during which he’ll fly to Ibiza to celebrate the landmark with pals.

He said: “I’ve had this whole thing in my head that I want to be fit for 30. I didn’t do it in my twenties, so if I’m not going to do it now, when am I going to do it?

“I want to be able to one day go, ‘look I had a six pack!’”

He continued to tell us: “I gym about four times a week and I also use an exercise bike at home.

“My mum always said ‘I feel sorry for you because you’ve got my genes,’ because my weight has been so up and down for the last however long.

“I do have a goal of what I want to look like but if I showed a picture of what I look like now to myself, even in December last year, I’d go ‘I want to look like that.’

“I am genuinely so happy with how I look.”

He’s big into his fitness, but the star admits he still treats himself to drinks at the weekend too.

Discussing his diet, Sonny explained: “I can 100% say I’ve probably had a drink every weekend since February or March.

“But it’s all about balance for me. I love going to the gym and how it makes me feel but I also love going out and socialising at the weekends.

“What’s the point in me going to the gym to then not enjoy myself at the weekends? So yeah, I do drink, and I do still go out.

“I have actually cut down on portion size and how much I eat thought. I’m a lot more conscious of that.”

Sonny’s new look has been spurred on by his new routine, after he said goodbye to early starts for his position on the Capital Breakfast Show, alongside Roman Kemp.

The star explained he’d have 5am starts and, towards the end, partied through the night and got a hotel room as it was easier than going home, only to have to get up in the early hours.

Now, Sonny works 10pm – 1am, and said it’s had a positive impact on his mental health.

“I love what I do, and every day I am so grateful and I can’t believe it’s my life. But in terms of how I used to feel doing the Breakfast Show, well I constantly had a lack of sleep, I’d be jetlagged with no motivation.

“That’s no reflection at all on the show but it was the hours and my particular lifestyle doing the show.

“Whereas now I genuinely feel like a new person and it’s so nice. I feel great but also the people around me can see it too, and have commented on it.

“That makes it all the more worth it.”
