The medical emergency left Gloria Hunniford‘s second husband, hairdresser Stephen Wray, 78, partially blind.
The pair married in September 1998, in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Stephen has now opened up on his second stroke which has resulted in the loss of sight in his right eye.
His blindness has been caused by a damaged blood vessel.
The Loose Women favourite’s spouse told MirrorOnline of the incident and said: “I woke up in the morning and there was blood in the eye and that was it. I can see a little but not that good.”

Adding more detail about the damaged blood vessel affecting sight in his right eye, he added: “It is from the heart to the eye, and then from the eye to the brain, so it is damaged.
“It is the first time I have had something like this with the eye.
“I had to go to hospital – then Northfield [Hospital, West London] and then neurology but thankfully it was not a long wait at A&E.
“I just went straight through. I am coping OK with it all. It’s fine but just disorientating.'”
Meanwhile, Gloria, 83, suffered a medical emergency of her own last year following a fall.
At the time, Gloria admitted she was “very worried” at hospital after breaking the bone in her eye socket in the fall which forced her to miss the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Gloria “felt happy” to be back on set after falling so badly at her son’s home she had to be rushed to hospital.
She described how she tripped on the rug at her son’s house onto “a hard wooden floor.”
Sharing a photo of her badly bruised leg, Gloria said the bruising around her eye was just as bad but did not want to share what she looked like without make-up.
The broadcaster then credited the paramedics with preventing her from needing skin grafts.
“Thankfully the ambulance was able to bring the skin over, otherwise I would’ve lost a lot of skin,” she explained.
The presenter lost her beloved daughter Caron Keating in April 2004 to breast cancer aged just 41.
