Colton Underwood has married partner Jordan C. Brown in a “special” ceremony during a three-day-long celebration with family and friends.

The couple tied the knot at the Carneros Resort and Spa in Napa Valley on 13 May in front of roughly 200 guests.

They kicked their wedding day off with “a disco-themed pool party,” Colton told PEOPLE.

He continued: “We wanted to break some of the traditional norms of what a ceremony and a wedding look like.

“And for the entire weekend, we recognise that a lot of people attending, both of our families and some of our friends, this will be their first queer wedding. We really want to make it special.”

Colton and Jordan designed a photo display guests would see as they made their way to the ceremony while a choir and orchestra performed.

“One thing that’s really important to both of us is that we’ve created this, we’re calling it ‘our loving walk,’” Colton explained.

“It’s inspired from a coffee table book that I was gifted after I came out called Loving and it’s images of men in love throughout history. We blew them up and put them on canvases and set them around the resort. Next to them will be love letters from queer people in the 18th and 19th century that were forbidden or they had to send in secret.”

The two exchanged personalised vows before celebrating their marriage with loved ones at the wedding reception.

Colton said they “wanted to break some of the traditional norms of what a ceremony and a wedding look like,” especially given that it was the “first queer wedding” many of their guests had attended.

“We really want to make it special,” he added.

“I’ve pretty much tried everything to be straight”

The two first started dating in the summer of 2021 and got engaged during a “weekend getaway” in Big Sur after Colton’s birthday in March 2022.

Colton is best known for appearing on ‘The Bachelor’, ‘The Bachelorette’ and ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ before coming out as gay in a ‘Good Morning America’ interview two years ago.

Since The Bachelor’s debut in 2002, it has continuously focused on a single male bachelor who is expected to find a wife from a pool of romantic interests.

During an appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ with Andy Cohen, Colton shared that taking part in the franchise was a form of “self-conversion therapy”.

“All of the cover-ups and praying, and trying self-conversion therapy on myself by becoming The Bachelor, so I’ve pretty much tried everything to be straight, and it didn’t work and I would rather, I just love being gay now!” he told the host.
