Stefano Pioli’s men fell four points adrift of a Champions League place after the defeat on Saturday.
It comes just three days after they were beaten 2-0 by bitter rivals Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
And the travelling supporters were not impressed with their team’s performance.
But Pioli was keen for the players to address the concerns of the fans, so the squad headed over to the ultras after the final whistle.
They stood in front of the passionate crowd as several members of the fanbase appeared to have some choice words for them.
After what seemed to be a dressing down from the AC Milan faithful, Pioli led a round of applause which the supporters reciprocated.
And those on social media praised the team’s decision to go over to the fans.
One said: “Fair play to the Milan players and coach for engaging. This is how it should be between fans and clubs.”
Another added: “Love the idea of this. Looked very respectful 👏👏.”

And a third replied: “Nice to see this. Sometimes players and coaches need to be reminded how much they actually mean to the fans.”
AC Milan will now turn their attention back towards Europe as they bid to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Inter at the San Siro on Tuesday evening.
Pioli’s men are seeking the club’s first Champions League final since 2007.
