On 7 May, a gunman entered the upscale nightclub, Gala Miami, around 4:00 am and opened fired on its patrons – which included Carrera, J Balvin and rapper Fabulous.
The devastating attack resulted in two women getting injured and the death of recording artist and producer Lowell Grissom – who passed away at Jackson Memorial Hospital from apparent gunshot wounds.
After finding safety, Carrera took to Twitter to recount her terrifying experience with a heartbreaking statement.
“So I just experienced my first night club shooting. Fabolouse and J Balvin were both in the building, it was a high end club,” she wrote.
“As the entire club ducts down, I grabbed my girlfriends and jet out the door. I cannot believe this is the reality of the world that we live in today.”
In an additional tweet, Carerra sent condolences to Lowell’s family and described the artist as “genuinely friendly.”
“I just received news of the man who died last night at the club shooting in Miami. He was a well-known artist in the industry known as Lo,” she wrote.

“I’ve seen him around a lot, and he’s always been a genuinely friendly person to me. Sending prayers to his family and loved ones.”
In response to her heartbreaking tweets, fans of Carerra flocked to her mentions to send supportive messages.
One person tweeted: “Glad you’re okay, take care of yourself the next few days as you come down from this experience. Be safe!”
Another fan wrote: “I’m so sorry you had to experience that, nobody should be going through this, and instead it’s a daily event in multiple places throughout America regularly.”
As of this writing, local authorities have yet to identify a suspect in the tragic shooting.
In a statement, a spokesperson for GALA Miami said they were working closely with Miami Beach Police Department.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the isolated and targeted incident that occurred last night at our upscale establishment. Our condolences are with the family and friends of the victim during this time,” they said.
“We are fully committed to providing assistance and cooperating with the Miami Beach PD as they conduct their ongoing investigation.”
