Occasional Digest - a story for you

CHANNEL 4’s most X-rated show, Open House: The Great Sex Experiment, is returning for a second series – and the bed sheets will have to be massive.

I can reveal the new season will feature an 18-person orgy, which makes David Haye-style throuples look small-time by comparison.

The first series last April saw curious couples explore whether their relationships could thrive by having sex with other people.

And it will be more of the same — and even more daring — this time around.

A show insider says: “Bosses have really upped the ante this series. Viewers will definitely see the difference as the upcoming version will be far bolder and push the boundaries further. The sheer numbers involved in the orgy is likely to be a TV first.”

The couples will once again be guided by relationship therapist Dr Lori, who’ll have her hands full as the new recruits experience emotional ups and downs.

Viewers will see them open up about their relationships, with many realising that being more sexually open is not as easy as they presumed.

And some are overcome with stage fright as the prospect of inviting a stranger into their relationship becomes all too much.

The series is filmed at a luxury country retreat, where a group of “sexually liberated” single people also reside.

These guests will be the ones integrated into the polyamorous relationships.

Following the show’s debut series, the production team put the feelers out for new participants for the experiment, looking for couples, single men and women, plus people already in an open relationship.

Judging by the numbers involved in the orgy, the response must have been impressive.

CHARLIE’S KIKI GLEE

HER EastEnders character Janine Butcher barely connected with her child, but Charlie Brooks has a much stronger bond with her own daughter.

The actress has revealed she is so open with 18-year-old Kiki that they often speak about sex. And it’s not just the serious stuff they discuss.

On the Made By Mammas podcast, Charlie says: “It’s OK to talk about pleasure at the appropriate time and the appropriate age, and there’s no shame in it.

“And it doesn’t have to be salacious or seedy or anything like that, you know.

“It’s a very normal, perfectly lovely thing to have and to talk about and they should be on a mission to find it.”

MEL IN CAKE STAND

MELANIE SYKES’ pin-up days were long behind her when she joined the Blind Date reboot in 2017, taking on the “our Graham” narrating role – not that telly bosses realised.

The TV favourite reveals in her new autobiography that she fell out with show chiefs after they asked her to appear on a fancy dress-themed Christmas special in person – after jumping out of a giant cake.

Melanie writes: “I could not believe they thought I’d be up for such sh**e.
“Treating me like some sort of showgirl at my age.”

Melanie was told Paul O’Grady, the host of the rebooted Channel 5 series which ran from 2017-2019, had approved the move – but after a meeting with the telly favourite she discovered the show bosses had been telling porkies.
