The 30-year-old Dutchman is well-known to dart fans for his crazy entrances where he tries to whip the crowd into frenzy.

With a banging drum and bass tune blasting out, which is usually from DJ Radical Redemption, he often dances wildly in an attempt to get those in attendance up on their feet.

Van Duijvenbode did exactly that last night prior to competing in the WTC Expo, only this time things did not go quite to plan.

The fan-favourite was on the stage jumping and throwing his arms around while dancing to the tune before taking a huge tumble backwards on the edge of the oche and landing on his butt.

He quickly got back to his feet and tried to continue as if nothing had happened as rival Slevin looked on bemused.

However, it was blatantly obvious he had hurt himself as he looked to be hobbling on one leg while pumping his arms out from his chest.

Van Duijvenbode then limped to his on-stage player table before the game got underway as he later admitted that he feared he had suffered some serious damage.

But despite the battered and bruised ego and the injury to his leg, the World No.11 still beat his Irish opponent after a 6-5 victory.

Darts ace Van Duijvenbode told HLN afterwards: “I’m afraid of my meniscus or posterior cruciate ligament.

“I felt very good about myself, but now I fear that I have to take a step back.

“We have such a busy schedule that it is also difficult to have an operation. Anyway, I don’t know what’s going on yet.”

Van Duijvenbode later added that the pain from the fall made him throw up and he only returned to face Stephen Bunting today because of the crowd.

He said: “I was puking from the pain on Saturday. Even now I don’t feel well.

“In another country I probably wouldn’t have thrown because I was in a lot of pain. But because it was in the Netherlands, I didn’t want to give up.”
