Earlier, he was said to have smashed up his work car while drunk off-duty.
But the experienced officer, who was attached to the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, allegedly refused to take a breath test and was arrested.
And when he was taken back to the station he was said to have attacked a female officer as he made a run for it.
The officer’s alleged night of shame began when he crashed his work car, leaving it seriously damaged.
Roadside recovery workers alerted police over suspicions the driver was drunk and Met officers attended the scene.
After allegedly refusing to take a breath test, he was taken to Bethnal Green police station, East London, where he made his bid for freedom.
A source said: “It went from bad to worse. In the first instance he is said to have taken a work car on a night out and crashed it into a wall.
“He apparently refused a breath test and was arrested but then tried to leg it from the police station yard and injured a WPC in the process.”
Later, he was released on bail pending further enquiries but has been suspended from duty.
A spokesperson for the force said: “A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been arrested on suspicion of taking and driving away, assaulting an emergency worker and being unfit to drive through drink or drugs.”
