PHILLIP Schofield could be axed from This Morning after Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond hosted the show together before Easter – and viewers loved it.

Bosses were so taken by Alison and Holly on screen that they have held talks over Phil’s future on the show, according to reports.

A source told The Mail On Sunday: “It has put an idea into the heads of ITV chiefs – to bring a bit of ‘girl power’ to the show.

“It’s a case of both things colliding. Fans say they are over Phil and they love Alison.”

Leading bookmaker Coral has also slashed the odds to 4-5 (from 3-1) on Alison being named as a main This Morning presenter across the full week in 2023.

“With doubts about the future of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, we have slashed the odds on Alison Hammond being named as a presenter for the full five days of This Morning,” said Coral’s John Hill.

Holly Willoughby sparks fears she’s quitting This Morning amid huge show change

“Hammond’s stock continues to rise and we make her the odds-on favourite to be a permanent presenter of the morning show,” added Hill.

It comes after The Sun revealed Holly, 42, will return to the This Morning sofa on Monday following a week off.

The star sparked fears she might quit the show after being absent all week.

She had been supposed to return to the show last week after her Easter break alongside Phillip Schofield, who was back on air after his brother’s child sex abuse conviction.

But ITV had to draft in Rochelle Humes as a stand-in show host after Holly contracted painful shingles.

After taking the week off, Holly confirmed on Friday that she would be presenting This Morning on Monday.

Sharing a snap of a special delivery from the show’s Friday presenter Dermot O’Leary, Holly wrote: “Thank you @dermotoleary for the sweetest delivery of chicken soup and salt beef… just what I needed.

“Feeling so much better. Thank you all for your well wishes.”

It’s believed she’ll present alongside Phil on Monday for the first time in almost a month.
