Occasional Digest - a story for you

BECOMING a parent may leave you feeling like you have to live up what others think you should be doing.

From only ever talking about babies to dressing how they think a mum should dress like.

These are the things which many parents have been faced with.

Social norms are shared standards of acceptable behaviour by groups – but who makes up the rules anyway?

Frankie Lynne, 40, and is a mum who has been told that she should be “embarrassed” of the way she dresses.

In a video she shared on her TikTok account _justmefrankie she revealed how she’d prefer to dress as a mum.

However, there are negative comments she has to bat off every time.

In the video, Frankie wrote a quote from a previous hateful comment that she has received.

It read: “You’re a 40 year old mother, you should be embarrassed of yourself!”

She first starts the video wearing glasses and an oversized cardigan.

Frankie then ditches the glasses, puts her hair down and slips into a tight fitting black dress

Thousands of people rushed to her comments section to share their support.

One wrote: “There’s 20 year old’s out there who would be jealous of how absolutely gorgeous you are.”

Another added: “Simply lovely and very beautiful.”

A third mum said: “I’m sorry how (should) we 40 years young should act like then. You look amazing by the way. Do you.”

A fourth simply stated: “You’re a 40yr (SIC) old mum, you should be PROUD of yourself!”
