I left my family’s farm to make a mini farm in my backyard – I’m proof you can really garden anywhere

A GARDENING expert proved she has more than a green thumb.

She took her quarter-acre lot and turned it into a full-blown mini farm.

Megh Wingenfeld (@meghwingenfeld) is a DIY expert who spends most of her days surrounded by plants.

Growing up on her family’s farm, she learned a thing or two about how to care for crops and help nature blossom.

But in 2018, she left the ranch and moved into her own home that she would later transform into a mini farm.

In a TikTok video, she explained how she went about her project, while showing videos of the farm’s progress along the years.

“Because it wasn’t a traditional farm, I paid attention to the sun and how the land reacts to rain for one whole summer before planting,” she said.

“That helped me decide where and what to plant.”

Behind her charming red-paneled home were over a dozen wooden garden beds filled with dirt and seeds, that soon turned into a blooming wonderland.

“I chose low, raised beds and I started small,” she explained.

A photo showed the Megh in a floral dress and sunhat, standing amongst her creation.

“Every year I work on something new.

“If I would have done all the transforming right away, I wouldn’t have known what perennials were already there, what the ground is like after the snow melts, what kind of animals are in the neighborhood.”

Wearing a flannel button down and winter boots, she surveyed the snow-covered grounds.

“Adding vertical growing structures and furniture the second summer was just as transformative as adding more garden beds.”

The sunflower-colored couches and lounge chairs that surrounded a wooden coffee table, as well as the floating hammock on the other side, turned the garden into something straight out of a fairy tale.

Megh offered some parting words of advice for anyone who wanted to try their hand in yard work: “Before going big with your garden or mini farm, take time to listen to the land and work with it. Grow with it.”

Her caption reflected her philosophy: “You can really garden anywhere!”
