Hedieh took to TikTok to share a video explaining the illusion, based on the All Is Vanity painting by Charles Allen Gilbert.
“When you look at this picture, what do you see?” she began.
“If you instantly notice the skull, it means you’re a bit of a cynic or realist and think beautiful things don’t last forever.”
However, other people might have seen the woman looking in the mirror first.
With Hedieh continuing: “If you saw the woman looking in the vanity mirror first, it means you’re a bit naive and maybe unaware of the threats and the consequences.”
People were quick to weigh in in the comments section, with one writing: “Wonderful.
“Thank you so much Hedieh.”
“I saw two women enjoying tea on a table,” another added.
“Sure the skull is there too, but not as important.”
“Skull, everyone sees the skull,” a third insisted.
But someone else argued that wasn’t true, as they’d seen the “woman looking in the mirror” first.
“Realist, 100%,” another wrote.
As someone else mused: “I saw both at exactly the same time!”
