The comic will be heading to the Dominican Republic for the show, and when not in front of the camera, he plans to hit the hotel gym and work on his tan.
He says: “I feel real pleasure that the BBC have trusted me with it, it’s a big show.
“And it’s a lovely holiday. The hotel’s got a gym.
“I’ll come back tanned and ripped, so my wife will not leave me when I get back.”
Survivor will see contestants marooned on an island where they must outwit each other in a bid to be the last person left, and land a £100,000 prize.
The show originally aired in the UK on ITV in 2001, lasting just two series.
But in America and Australia, it’s a big hit.
Joel is confident the new BBC One version will be a success, but if it flops, he’ll take the blame.
He told Table Manners podcast: “If it doesn’t go well, it’s my fault.”
Joanna’s Best Bits

This show will air on Sunday April 16 at 9pm.
LOOK WHO HAS NEWS FOR YOU
DAVID TENNANT is returning as guest host on Have I Got News For You for the eighth time.
The former Doctor Who star will front the second episode of the upcoming 65th series on Friday, April 21.
On the panel will be Pointless favourite Richard Osman, making his 15th appearance, and comedian Lucy Beaumont, who is making her debut on the BBC One show.
As ever, team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton will remain as team captains on the long-running comedy current affairs show, which first aired in 1990 – when host David was just 19.
Shame he can’t jump back in his Tardis and reclaim his original hair colour.
BRUNO’S GOT TALENT
NEW judge Bruno Tonioli proves he’s almost as outrageous as some of the show’s acts in his new role as Britain’s Got Talent judge.
A new trailer for the ITV1 juggernaut was released yesterday and the ex-Strictly star clearly hasn’t taken long to bed in.
Indeed co-judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell are left-opened mouthed by his antics, including dancing in a seat in front of the panel.
The Sun revealed the Italian didn’t know the show’s rules on his debut, pressing the Golden buzzer twice, unaware you could only do it once.
The show needed an injection of craziness after David Walliams departure – and Bruno delivers.
The series starts on Saturday, April 15.
HAPLESS RETURNS
BRITISH comedy Hapless is returning for a second instalment on Prime Video.
The series follows the life of journalist Paul Green, played by Tim Downie, who gets in ridiculous situations in a bid to get stories for the UK’s “fourth most successful Jewish newspaper”.
Hapless also guest stars comedy stalwarts Ronni Ancona, Sally Phillips, Linda Robson and David Berry.
The new series kicks off on May 15.
New Beeb series
