Occasional Digest - a story for you

A MAN who bought a second-hand Ford Fiesta for £1,000 on Facebook Marketplace has revealed how he made almost double selling it.

Nikola, from Mitcham in South London, took to TikTok after “flipping” the beaten-up 2011 Ford Fiesta for £1,999.

The motor, originally listed in Luton, already had 13,400 kilometres on the clock when Nikola picked it up.

He picked it up for just £1,000 after spotting it on the Facebook Marketplace – in the belief that a few cheap fixes could double its value.

He said: “I bought this car on Facebook to flip, it was only £1,000.

“It only needed a deep clean. I fixed some little scratches on the bodywork and Hoovered inside.

“I listed it on Facebook Marketplace for £1,999 and sold it for full asking price.”

Nikola’s snaps showed the car coated in foam during a power wash, before he spray-painted scratches on its newly gleaming body.

He used a Henry Hoover to make the car’s interior as pristine as its paintwork.

The same motor looked brand new by the time Nikola put it back up for sale on the Facebook forum where he had bought it.

Nikola added that he had only spent £17 on insurance, £20 on fuel, and £4 washing the car – meaning he made an overall profit of £938.

Not everyone was convinced by Nikola’s savvy hustle.

One said: “Brudda, where are you getting £17 insurance?”

Tozz said: “You can see the dirt in the alloys after the clean.

“I’m just saying that if you cleaned the alloys it would have looked very nice for the buyer.”

Alex said: “I could have done better with the price.”

Defending himself, Nikola said: “Body was poor. I only paid £4 for a quick wash but I’ll spend more time for the next one.”

It comes after a thrifty Facebook Marketplace seller revealed how he bought a car for £550 – and sold it ten hours later for three times the price.

A mum also revealed how she is haggling her way onto the property ladder with a button.
