Viewers of the daytime ITV show were left in shock to see Holly Willoughby joined by her co-star Alison Hammond instead.

This Morning fans were confused after watching Holly, 41, sit down on the iconic blue sofa with Alison, 48, instead of her usual co-star.

Phillip, 60, was nowhere to be seen on Monday’s instalment of the popular ITV show, which he has presented with Holly since 2009.

Announcing the show, Holly said: “Hello. Welcome to your Monday. Phillip is having the week off so all the adults have left the building.”

Alison then chimed in, laughing: “It’s fantastic. Nice way to start the week off, and lovely to have you here.”

But fans were left seriously confused, and took to Twitter to question why Phil had “gone missing”.

One penned: “What, there’s no Phil?” as another chimed in: “Shouldn’t Holly just be taking the lead in the absence of Phil?”
