During an appearance on Loose Women, Iain discussed a variety of Corrie topics with the ladies as he revealed some extreme spoilers for the upcoming months on the show.

Among them, he informed fans that he and the show’s writers were hoping to show a different side to Hope Stape, played by Isabella Flanagan, in the coming months.

Revealing thier plans for the character, Iain said: “She’s certainly not going to continue going down such a troubled path, in the short to medium to long-term.

“We thought: ‘Actually, we’ve done some very dark and twisted things with that character, and okay that’ll still be part of her, but for the next 12 months we’re going to do normal pre-teen stuff.”

He went on to add on the ITV daytime show that fans would see the start of a potential new love story between friends Hope and Sam Blakeman, played by Jude Riordan.

Iain said: “We’re going to be building a friendship with her and Sam [Blakeman], that will verge on a very innocent pre-teen romance a little bit and they try to navigate those waters.

“Yes okay, it will always have a Hope twist on it because she’s maybe wired a bit differently than most kids her age. She won’t necessarily get help, but we’ll see a more down-to-earth grounded side of her.”

It comes after the head honcho at Corrie revealed his plans to turn Hope and Sam into the next Ant & Dec.

He told the show’s panellists: “With Hope and Sam, we are taking them as kind of our benchmark PJ and Duncan, or Ant and Dec.

“What if we can take these two kids who are, like, ten and grow them for a decade into this incredibly rich storied friendship so that’s what we are hoping to do.”

Iain then quipped: “Both of those actors are so talented so they both might be off to Hollywood when they are 14.

“If we can keep them then we are trying to PJ and Duncan them up.”
