On tonight’s episode, Shaq confides in pal Tom Clare that he’s spotted a red flag in his romance with Tanya after she compares him to an ex-boyfriend.
Debriefing Tom on the issue, Shaq explains: “When someone that you’re seeing and supposed to be in love with says that little things in you remind them of their ex, that for me is such a huge statement to say.
“I’m not going to go into something with someone that thinks I have negative similarities to an ex.”
Tom tries his best to reassure Shaq, telling him they will be able to work things out, but it doesn’t seem to settle him.
Shaq continues: “At this point, the way I feel about the situation, I need to sleep on it and think about it.”
Is Love Island about to see its first major relationship casualty?
Cracks in the pair’s relationship have been slowly growing, and it’s got worse over the last week with growing friction in the villa.
Shaq got into an argument with Ron Hall last week after Ron didn’t do his share of the tidying up, skipping helping out the boys in favour of talking to Lana and Tanya.
Tanya took Ron’s side in the argument, later telling Shaq he felt the confrontation was “rude”.
The smitten couple have already declared “I love you” to one another after knowing each other a few weeks.
So the tense atmosphere could not have come at a worse time for the couple, who are about to be torn apart as the annual Casa Amor twist kicks in tonight.
Will they be able to survive time apart with new temptations in their way?
Love Island continues weeknights at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
