Shailene Woodley headed up the cast of the female heavy drama series though it appeared that it may never make it to air when Showtime announced it was dropping the show following the announcement that it would be rebranding as part of the Paramount+ service.

In an exciting breakthrough for fans however, rival streamer Starz has picked up the show, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

It also revealed how the show had been shopped to a variety of networks in order to secure that it was picked up following its cancellation.

HBO and Amazon were also in the mix to bring the show to life before Starz secured the deal.

The show is based on the 2019 book of the same name by Lisa Taddeo.

It is described as an intimate portrayal of American female desire in which the women are on a crash course to turn around their lives.

Speaking about the story, writer Lisa said: “I think the biggest takeaway I’ve had is that we’re all united by desire, or by fear of losing desire, or losing a person.”

The show is set to star Shailene Woodley as Gia, DeWanda Wise as Sloane and Betty Gilpin as Lina in the main three roles.

A synopsis for the book adaptation reads: “The book covers the sexuality of three women in the age groups of their 20s, 30s, and 40s.

“Lina, a suburban Indiana mother whose teenage rape disrupts the course of her life; Maggie, a seventeen-year-old high school student in North Dakota who becomes entangled in an illegal affair with her married English teacher; and Sloane, a successful restaurant owner in the Northeast whose husband likes to watch her have sex with other men and women.”
