Every year, the website analyses the millions of reviews submitted on its platform to reveal the definitive travel list for the year, as chosen by globetrotters across the world.
The Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Destination Awards looks at the quantity and quality of reviews for international destinations and highlights the most popular and up and coming destinations for the year ahead.
Of all the cities in Europe, London was rated the highest in the overall rankings, with only Dubai and Bali seen as better destinations worldwide.
Rome, Paris and Crete were the only other European destinations to grace the top 10, coming in fourth, fifth and seventh respectively.
The England capital was joined in the European top 10 by Edinburgh, which came 10th behind Istanbul, Barcelona, Madrid, Florence and Lisbon.
Elsewhere, Dublin was voted the fourth best place to visit for culture, with Fes in Morocco taking top spot.
Meanwhile, Rome was voted the best place both in Europe and the world for food.
The award is not the first title London has claimed this year, after it beat Paris, New York and Tokyo to be named best city in the world.
That was decided by worldsbestcities.com who rank places based on categories they call “the six pillars of place equity”.
London was voted number one in both the people and promotion categories, with its social media presence the strongest among all the cities.
The website also said London’s “culinary industry is being reborn” praising its wide variety of restaurants.
It said: “The city with the fourth-best restaurants on the planet is buzzing again with big-name openings like Dubai-based izakaya-style restaurant Kinoya in Harrods.
“There are hundreds of other rooms soon joining this increasingly daring culinary destination serving—and welcoming the world once more.”
Meanwhile, this is how to get cheap theatre tickets for London’s West End shows.
