The bargain hunter took to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group to tell the other members that she’d seen what she thought was a great buy from Selfridges.
Attaching a photo of the Dyson device, which was originally priced at £22 before being reduced, the sales shopper wrote: “Just spotted this bargain.”
However, eagle-eyed Facebook users were quick to point out that she’d made a glaring error.
That’s because in the description for the hoover, it clearly states: “Dyson Cordless Vacuum Toy.”
After assuming that she’d mistakenly thought it was a full-size, working hoover, many took to the comment section to correct her.
One person wrote: “It’s only a toy, read it properly.”
A second said: “OMG this is a kids toy hoover!
“Good luck to everyone who thought it was an actual hoover and it turns up and you’re all disappointed.”
A third commented: “Definitely a toy hoover for a fiver, I looked it up.”
While a fourth joined in the conversation as they stated: “There’s going to be so many buy this now thinking it’s real.”
However, the author of the post soon returned to the group to clarify that she knew that it was a toy and had never stated the opposite.
She wrote: “All I said was it was a bargain – which it is!”
But others revealed they’d got themselves in a muddle and ordered it in a mix-up.
One person in the comment section was also corrected when they wrote: “Ordered!! Must be a glitch.
“I hope they send it before they realise I’ve been without a hoover since Christmas,”
While another said: “I’ve ordered this and then realised it was a toy.”
They added: “I thought for £5, it was a bargain. Got too excited!”
While a third person revealed: “Nearly bought this as my hoover isn’t working.”
