A 28-year-old woman has died overnight after a violent incident on Darwin’s popular nightlife strip, according to Northern Territory police.

About 8:20pm on Tuesday, NT Police said it received reports that a group was involved in an altercation on Mitchell Street, near the intersection of Nuttall Place.

Two women, aged 28 and 33, received cuts to their bodies and were taken to Royal Darwin Hospital, NT Police said in a statement.

The 28-year-old woman later died from her injuries, while the 33-year-old remains in a stable condition.
