Love Island season and its cast of muscle clad characters has inspired Brits to look towards the iconic Balearic Island as a potential place to go on holiday this summer

Love Island has got people talking about Mallorca again
Love Island has got people talking about Mallorca again

Love Island has sparked a big rush of interest among Brits looking for a holiday in Mallorca.

Since the launch of the show earlier this month searches for ‘cheap flights to Mallorca’ have increased 600%, while ‘cheap holidays to Mallorca’ have increased 422%.

The island tops the charts as the favourite Spanish island for summer 2022 with searches on Skyscanner ahead of Ibiza, Menorca and Canary Islands for trips in June, July, August.

Specialist travel companies have also seen a big uptick in interest, with On the Beach recording a 110% week-on-week increase in searches for holidays to Mallorca as potential holidaymakers.

The sweeping hills and dramatic coastline of the Balearic Island provides an iconic backdrop to the reality show, and is closely associated with steamy romance in the minds of its watchers.

Those who want to follow in the footsteps of their favourite swimming trunk touting star need not make the flight down the Mallorca however.

The UK has some pretty incredible villa offerings that – if booked to coincide with one of the summer’s unpredictable sunny spells – give the Love Island villa a run for its money.

We’re talking private pools, open fires, hot tubs and of course, epic views of the gorgeous scenery to be found in Britain.

Oh, and unlike the islanders, there’s no need to all pile into one room – in these homes, everyone gets their own private bedroom.

Check out our top pick of amazing UK villas you’ll want on the wishlist…
