Occasional Digest - a story for you

WALES scored an early screamer through Ethan Ampadu, only to have it ruled out by VAR.

There was an offside in the build-up and Ampadu’s celebrations were all for nothing after the strike was KO’d.

Robert Page‘s side are currently bottom of their group, having lost both of their opening games in the competition.

Belgium are second, after losing to Netherlands in their first clash before beating Poland.

Both sides will want to increase their chances of finishing in the top two, so a win is vital.

The idea was far better than the application for the Atletico Madrid player.

An electric atmosphere as ever in the Welsh capital.

Belgium get us underway in the evening sun.

  • Both sides with need for points

Sitting bottom of the group, Robert Page will want to ensure that their stint in the top tier of the competition is not a brief one.

Heaping pressure on at least a draw being recorded against Roberto Martinez’s side.

Belgium sit there points adrift of group leaders Netherlands and will be looking to make ground on the side who humbled them in the opening round of fixtures.

  • The man, the myth, the legend

Asked about what it means to play for his country, further showing why he is so loved by the Welsh fans, Bale said:

We don’t play for our country for the money. We turn up and we just want to play in front of the fans, achieve success for our country and make our country proud. We are not a big nation and we can’t pay big. For me, I’m not even sure I take a match fee. I just try to take a box every game at the stadium – that’ll do me.
